Building on nearly 60 years of world leading experience in the industry, with over 450 Cuddon freeze dryers operating globally, continuous improvements through the embracing of new technologies, fabrication methods and smart design is nothing new to the Cuddon team. However, setting ourselves a target of producing a range of freeze dryers with the smallest environmental footprint possible, increased product capacity, without any compromise to performance was not for the faint hearted!

We are proud to announce the launch of our new GPC Cuddon Freeze Dryer range: Using CO2 as the freeze dryer refrigerant to replace traditional high Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants is a significant milestone, reducing the environmental impact by more than four thousand times by the use of this natural gas. Combined with design improvements to the product chamber and state of the art robotic manufacturing processes, build times have reduced while product capacity has increased by nearly 30%. A fully incorporated heat recovery system harvests the ejected heat from the refrigeration system and uses it to heat the defrost water and the product shelves. Add in anodised aluminium product trays and an upgraded smart control system, and the result is a significant drop in the power consumption of this normally power-hungry drying process. So, more product can be freeze dried, in a shorter cycle time, with lower operational energy and refrigerant costs – a win-win commercially for our clients.
